Michael Batas started working in restaurants and hotel kitchens as a young teenager in his native Cyprus before continuing in restaurants and nightclubs in Australia. He settled in Calgary staying in the industry and in May, 1981 used all of his experiences to start Michael’s Restaurant. Today Michael’s is a fixture in the downtown restaurant scene. Michael passed on all of his experience to his son John who today runs the operation with his mom Helen in this truly family restaurant. Hand picking produce, making dough and sauces are part of the daily routine that brings people back to Michael’s.
There is a place for everyone at Michael’s, from families, to corporate Calgary to people up for a night out to a hockey game or theatre. Our upstairs room is great for private functions including company hockey pools, retirement and birthday parties, wedding rehearsal dinner’s meetings and team and department functions. Also Catering and delivery are available for groups of 1 to 400.
